EFM - Enlightenment File Manager
Note: This article is a stub and require further clarification and improvement.
EFM is the default file manager for Enlightenment-DR17. It's quite simple, but can offer some nice features not available in the other similar products. Brief list of features:
- Modular structure. Currently three "special" modules/gadgets are available - "EFM Operation Info", "EFM Navigation" and "EFM Path"
- "Tabbed" browsing support ('Ctl+t' opens a new "tab" in a current EFM window and 'Ctl+w' closes the tab)
- Native support (mount/umount/eject) of internal and external storage devices (along with the tight integration with "Places" module/gadget)
- Drag'n'Drop operations:
- +Ctl key activates "Copy files" mode
- +Alt key activates "Ask what to do with files" mode
- +Shift key activates (the default) "Move files" mode
- +Ctl key activates "Copy files" mode
- Basic support of the "*.desktop" files
- Simple search capability by typing the first letters of a required file in a EFM window
- Support of a various "view modes" with the capability to work with an image thumbnails (preview size is up to 256x256 pixels)
- Files association support
- High customization capabilities. For example it can "remember" Your Personal Custom icons for a particular file/folder/etc. It means that you're not limited in a visual customization any longer. Each file/folder could have an individual icon.
- and so on... (need to be completed)
Last known shortcut is attached to the "Esc" key (it navigates you to the "parent" directory from the current one with some exceptions like ignorance of 'X-Enlightenment-Type=Mount' "*.desktop" files).
EFM is capable to provide the basic preview of ".edj" files. To activate this option you should add to your "/etc/mime.types" file the line
application/x-edje edj
